Voice into Action

Community-Driven. Policy-Focused.

From neighborhood planning to citywide initiatives, MEDA works to ensure that public policies reflect the voices and needs of low- and moderate-income families.

MEDA’s Policy & Advocacy team mobilizes community voice to shape policies that support economic opportunity for San Francisco’s working-class families and small businesses. Grounded in research, organizing, and coalition-building, our work advances community-driven solutions to issues of land use, asset building, and economic development.
Our policy priorities center on housing, education, financial capability, and entrepreneurship—creating pathways to long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

MEDA focuses on three key areas:

Community-Based Land Use Planning

We advocate for development that prioritizes affordable housing, protects small businesses, creates good jobs, and prevents displacement of Mission District residents.

Community Asset Building

We push for policies that grow generational wealth in low- and moderate-income communities, expanding access to financial tools, education, and ownership opportunities.

Citywide Policy Initiatives

We work in partnership with nonprofits and government to shape policies that reflect the realities and aspirations of San Francisco’s communities.

MEDA is driving innovative policy solutions—
for the Mission District, and beyond.

Advocate. Lead.
