Moving the Mission Forward.
For more than 50 years, the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) has worked alongside Mission District families to expand economic mobility and strengthen community power. What began as a neighborhood-driven effort has grown into a nationally recognized model—combining direct services with policy leadership, community real estate, and place-based strategies that push systems to work better for Latino communities.
From housing opportunities and small-business support to financial capability, workforce pathways, and youth leadership, MEDA connects families and entrepreneurs with the tools to advance their goals today while driving structural change for tomorrow.

Our Approach
MEDA’s place-based strategies help families stay rooted, expand opportunity, and build long-term assets. Grounded in community leadership, our work strengthens the systems that shape daily life—housing, education, capital access, and economic mobility. What starts in the Mission informs policy solutions, strengthens partnerships, and supports organizations across California and the nation, creating lasting change for working-class communities.
Pathways to Prosperity
Whether you are looking for housing, to improve your finances or open a business, MEDA’s programs are designed to meet you where you are. Our free services give you practical tools, coaching, and connections in English and Spanish so you can move forward on your terms. No fees. No barriers.
